Boat Yard IXX

All the planks are on!  I've finished all the diagonal planking, Finally! I just have a little more sanding and filling left before I start on the deadwood.  It took just at two months to complete the diagonal planking. That's working alone about 4 to 5 hours a day. It's a lot of work any way you look at it but the Molly B is really taking shape.

To the left is a view of the transition joint on the port side. The planks have been trimmed but not faired. To the right is a view of the starboard side transition joint which has been faired. I put a large radius at the chine and blended the transition to reduce the boxy or hard chine look at the bow.

       Hurricane Charley Hits Florida Hard!
Here are a few pictures of what Hurricane Charley did to my boat building. We got hit pretty hard here as the eye of the storm at Category 3 strength passed just a few miles to the west of us. At Orlando with a strength of a Category 2 they reported sustained winds of 80 mph and gusts of 105 mph so it had to be stronger than that here because we are about 70 miles southwest of Orlando and they said it was a Category 3 when it passed us.

There isn't much left of my boat building, but my boat is under there somewhere and believe it or not, it sustained no damage. I couldn't believe it when we got the mess cleaned up.
